What Happened To Me By The Blue Ridge Parkway 1

So I get home from six days at Clemson on Thursday, give a speech on
TV teaching at noon on Friday, and then take off with the m/m at 5 pm
Friday for the mountains to pick up the daughter at the Penland Craft
School just outside of Spruce Pine, NC.

After a pleasant morning of looking at a Craft Fair in Blowing Rock,
on the road from BR to Spruce Pine, we pass a country church with a
cemetery beside it. Sign in front of the cemetery says:

    BURIAL BY PERMISSION ONLY

What could this mean?

What Happened To Me By The Blue Ridge Park Way 2

After wondering why the church has to put up a sign warning that
there will be *no* interments without permission, we go to Penland,
getting there by 6 pm to pick up the daughter, who then informs us we
have to come back in two hours because she overslept in the morning
and now has to wash dishes at supper to compensate for not having
done it for breakfast.

On the road from Penland to Little Switzerland, we see sign somewhere
around the gem mines, at a little store obviously run by someone
named <dick>:

    DICKS GEMS AND SUPPLIES

Unfortunately, not time to stop and examine the selection.

What Happened to Me By The Blue Ridge Park Way 3

We get near Little Switzerland and the m/m wants a dessert. We
almost stop at an Inn, then see a sign for the Little Swiss Cafe in
Downtown Little Switzerland and I say I want to go downtown. A
little down the road is a bend in the road, a Post Office on one
side, and one building on the other. The building has the Cafe, a
Book Store, and one other shop. This is downtown.

We have dessert for the m/m, a bowl of soup for me, and then we ask
the waitperson if this is really downtown. She say:

WP: Yep. This is it.
M/M: Really?
GGS: When I saw the Post Office, I knew this had to be it.
WP: I love living here. We never lock our doors. Where're y'all
        from?
M/M: Raleigh.
WP: I wouldnt want to live in a city. Like Charlotte. Is
        Raleigh *mean*?
M/M: Mean?
WP: Yeah, Charlotte is *mean*.

I ask for the check and she has written her name on the back. It
reads:
                Have a nice day. Masheil.

I ask the m/m how we should pronounce this name. She says:

M/M: Muh-Shay-yul, of course, as in Michelle. It's obvious.

The m/m sees things I dont.
